Emphasis is on the preparation and reactions of functional groups. Spectroscopy is used to determine structure. Compounds of the life process are introduced. The laboratory emphasizes modern methods of analysis, including gas chromatography and infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. | |
