Modifying and Refining a Presentation
Using Find and Replace:
Choose Edit, Replace
Type Word(s) in "Find" box
Type Word(s) in "Replace" box
Find Next
Replace
Close
Selecting a Slide Layout:
Click Insert, New Slide or New Slide icon
Pick AutoLayout (can be modified once selected)
Click OK
Creating and Enhancing a Table:
Double-click the table placeholder
Specify the # of rows, columns
Click OK
Make format adjustments (bold, italics, color, etc.)
Changing a Slide Layout:
Click Slide to be changed
Click Format, Slide Layout
Select Layout
Click OK
Changing the Presentation Design:
Click APPLY DESIGN on the Common Tasks toolbar
Click several different designs to view
Click BLUSH
Changing the Color Scheme:
Click Format/Slide Color Scheme
Select the pink color scheme option
Click Preview
Move the dialog box to see the slide
You like the pink but think its too dark
Click Custom tab
Click Change Color
Click two to the left of the current color (a lighter pink)
Click OK
Click Apply to All
Duplicating a Slide:
Select slide
Insert, Duplicate Slide
Drag the duplicated slide to the desired location
Hiding Slides:
Click Slide Sorter view
Select slide to be hidden
Slide Show, Hide Slide or click icon
Modifying Attributes (a feature associated with an object that can be enhanced using drawing tools and menu commands): you notice that many slides had a lot of blank space…you want to reduce the amount of blank space.
You first want to increase the font size
To do this on all slides at once, use the slide master
Click View, master, slide master
Click on the Title Area
Change the font size from 44 to 54
Change the font color to lime green (bottom toolbar)
To increase the size of bulleted text
Click the first level head in the object area and increase the size from 32 to 40
Click the second level and change from 28 to 32
Click the Slide Sorter View to see the changes
Display Slide 5 in Slide View
Select the first level bulleted text
Click Decrease Font Size (right side of formatting toolbar)…changed to 36 point
Similarly, reduce the size of the second level to 28 points
Next you want to enhance the title slide by adding a shadow and italics to the title
Display Slide 1
Click SHFT+Slide View (=View, Master, Title Master)
Click Title placeholder
Click I
Click Shadow (S)
Similarly, Change the subtitle to have a shadow and italics and text color of orange
Click Slide View
Reduce the font size of the subtitle to 48
Size the subtitle to display on a single line
Click off
Modifying Clip Art:
Click on picture
Click Recolor Picture icon on clip art toolbar
Select a color and Preview
Click OK
Creating and Enhancing Drawing Objects:
To add an object:
Select Slide
Click Autoshapes
Select Shape
Right click to open shortcut menu, Add text
Click Recolor picture to change color (on clip art toolbar)
Drawing a Box:
Click Text Box icon on drawing toolbar
Drag to outline box
Enter desired text
Adding Transition Effects:
Click Slide Show, Slide Transition or use drop-down in Slide Sorter view
Click Wipe Right, Apply
Edit, Select All
Wipe Right
Apply to All
Adding Build Effects: to progressively display bullets on a slide
You want to add build effects to all slides except 1, 4, and 9
Click the Slide Sorter View
Edit, Select All
Deselect these 3 slides by pressing slide 1, shft+slide 4, shft+slide 9
Click No Effect drop-down
Click Fly from left
Controlling the Slide Show: you can go backward or forward if you get stuck in a presentation
View, Slide Show
Use mouse to click or use space bar
Press BKSP to go back one bullet
Type Slide # and press enter to go to a specific slide
Printing Selected Slides and Notes Pages: notes pages are good because you can type things you want to say when that slide appears; helps your presentation flow more smoothly
View, Notes Pages
Type notes
To print selected slides, handouts, or notes pages:
File, Print
Select what you want using the drop-down box
