Welcome

This course is designed to help you improve your sentence skills and to prepare you for credit English courses. Sentence skills will be reviewed to help you improve your ability to write clear, error-free sentences. You will learn about writing as a process, a process anyone can improve by using a systematic approach.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the course, you will be able to

1.       Follow the basic conventions of sentence structure for standard written English.

2.       Edit writing for correct grammatical usage, punctuation, and mechanical convention.

3.       Vary sentence patterns using coordination, subordination and other methods of sentence construction.

4.       Use appropriate diction.

5.       Develop a coherent paragraph.

Requirements at a glance

The most important requirements are attendance and keeping up with the assignments.  Graded assignments include 4 in-class exams, a final exam and 3 paragraphs.

The AACC Writing Center offers help at every stage of composing your paper.   These services included in your tuition and fees, so get what you are paying for!  The Writing Center is located in Library 116B; hours are M-W 9-7, Th 9-5.
